Good Friday brings gratitude to my heart. It’s a day where we observe Christ’s death solemnly, and with deep appreciation for Jesus’s life, His lessons, His example of a real life lived fully.
That appreciation extends, for me to my own life. The fact that I have been given life by God; the love I receive daily from my partner in life, Joy; from my children Aileen, Cara (transitioned but I still feel her love), Margaret, and Olivia; from my grandchildren Shane, Cate, Maeve, and Declan; from the 2 little puppies we just took into our home; and from my friends.
How fortunate we are to live in such comfort and safety. Such beauty.
Good Friday has always been a very special day for me. At the Benedictine Grange Monastery for over 35 years we shared the Stations of the Cross. Each Station we prayed, then listened as our Music Ministers expressed our sorrow in music. I wept every year at the 13th station.
I wish you a celebration of your own lives this weekend; and the gift of resurrection in your own hearts.
Peter
