Reflection on Jesus in the desert

Reflection on Jesus in the desert
Today I took a walk up a very steep hill toward a majestic large outcropping of stone at the back of our property, part of the mountain really, because it was drawing me there. I got very close to it despite the steepness. The photo is from behind the outcropping, kind of a parapet I suppose, and I was reminded of Jesus in the desert being tempted by Satan. Maybe it was somewhere like this where He could see “all” of creation before Him. It was a little dangerous to climb up that far. It’s very sandy and easy to slip, with few rocks to grab onto. How dangerous was this moment for Jesus – Being tempted by the Devil? He handled it so well. How do I handle temptation? It’s a joke compared to Jesus. Not that I am capable of attaining that standard (perfection) but it would be nice to get closer to it! Anyway I could just picture Jesus on that mountain outcropping. Alone. Jesus was pretty much always alone, even when he was surrounded by people. His singular purpose kept Him that way I think. Yet He is with each one of us, always, supporting us, loving us, showing us the way.
