“Wanderer there is no way, the way is made by walking.” As I walked to my “secret destination “I had no map, no gps, no guide except a path in the mountain soil occasionally. In the back of my mind There was no one way to make it there. I had to make my own. It was the tip of a mountain amongst a much larger mountain, and it was quite far up. I hadn’t gone up that far before.
Our home backs up to Shadow Mountain. A steep, rocky edifice that’s about a thousand feet high and 12 miles long. Our property line actually goes to the top. There are a hundred paths and ways to climb it. But you can never get to the top as it becomes vertical the last 100’ or so. Our landscape here is desert and mountains as I’ve mentioned. It reminds me of Palestine. I had the feeling I was in Palestine as I climbed and walked.
So, I made the peak I had been admiring from afar for so long. From that peak I could see the magnificence of God’s creation and hear God’s calling to live life fully. To me, this is God’s calling to every human being: live this incredible gift of life to the fullest. Be who you are fully created to be. You are unique. You are one life God has placed here to be who you are fully meant to be. How we get there is a long and winding path with many stops and starts, with many changes of direction. But with one single purpose: be, be you.
